Last week I recieved news that my grandmother "The Matriarch" has had pancreatic cancer that has spread to her liver and stomach. Being the strong willed and strong minded woman that she is, she has decided not to endure chemo and radiation. So my Aunt and I hopped the first plane to Kansas to take care of her and her final wishes.
Let me tell you,she is a ball of fire, no pun intended. From the moment we arrived she has had us on our toes. She knows what she wants and how she wants it done (one of the character traits I admire most about her).

On Wednesday April 18th America lost a TV legacy, known for his boy next door persona and fresh face Dick Clark, at the age of 82, passed away from a heart attack. As the well known host of American Bandstand and the Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin Eve special he shaped the music trends to the nation. As Aretha Franklin stated “You weren’t anyone unless you were on American Bandstand” Dick integrated the music of the 1950’s with not only playing popular white music but also African American music as well.
